Moisturizers for Oud's Hard Case

Hi.

I've read throughout some posts that one could put a moisturizer inside the oud's hard case to control humidity. But I have no idea what it is.

Can anyone explain? Give links? Pictures? How it works?
Does anyone know what is the best humidity level for the oud?

Thanks :)

Or, as a low-tech option, you can wet a cloth, wring it out, put it in a plastic bag and place the bag in the string compartment inside the case - making sure the wet cloth has no chance of coming into contact with the oud.

Good idea, Dave. If you do this Reda, Don't seal the bag though, leave one corner open, or punch some small holes in it.

hi Reda
pay attention to that issue because you might end up with cracks in the oud soundboard especially if the latter is not varnished. I would keep it in 45-50% humidity.
