Hi Hama :)

I've seen a very similar instrument on one of youtube's videos, I'm not sure if it's the same.

But I don't see why someone would create an instrument combining two in one, or even more. Surely it is a challenge to get the best out of each instrument given the structural differences in design of each, but I don't find any other reason for doing that. If you notice, it is uncomfortable to hold, difficult if not impossible to go to the higher positions on both fingerboards of the oud and the violin, and not much faster in switching instruments than usual. Plus I don't like how it looks.

This being said, I don't mean to underestimate the work done. I always appreciate efforts made in being creative with instruments, and it's good to see new hybrid instruments. I wish he recorded something on the oud part. The violin's sound is very nice though and looks promising.

hair style and furnature very nice! OH! you mean that instrument:rolleyes: ?

I only found it irritating that he didn't play one note on the guitar part...... so what is the point??!

It only makes sense to combine two instruments in one if you develop a way of playing so that the two parts integrate into themselves.

with my own efforts to combine two instruments into one: my ragmakamtar, one of my motivations was to reduce my luggage space --- but this makes no sense with a violin because it is a tiny instrument to begin with.

If this guitar part is not being incorporated into the music, then the only value I see is a kind of WOW gimmick value.

Great taksim though!
