Just ordered a Maurice Shehata oud
finally got that done, thanks for all the reads on this forum. I got mine through ebay after I put in my best offer it all went smooth (lots of email)
hope to see it in 4 to 6 weeks. Mr Essam sounded very professional and helpfull. I will say more as the process moves forward, so far it is good

Hi All
I asked Essam to give me a medium finish on the Palisander oud (rosewood), they mostly finish these ouds in a darker finish. Essam seems to answer all
my email right away, so far very good. The oud will arrive in 4 weeks (I hope).
I have been able to get a lower price on ebay. you might do better, I am satisfied with his offer.
I am a beginner and have an old oud good enough to train on. I will post some mp's when I get the oud

I got a good deal, I am sure they can work with you, the price on ebay suggests you make an offer, they will counter offe in 48 hours or sooner ,
there is room to negotiate, try it. I am not sure I would tell how much I paid in fairness to these good folks in Egypt. They do seem to be quite
helpful and want to sell ouds.

Ordered mine on March 14, send an email to Essam finally answered he will check with Maurice on status. Have not heard yet.
Any way I have full trust in this outfit, If you deal with them you need to be patient, they will come through at their own sweet time, I hope I dont
run out of patience.

received email from Essam today apologizing for the delay, the oud is finished and Mr. Maurice is putting the strings and accessories on and they will
ship on Monday (4/13/09), hope it arrives in good health.

I ordered my Maurice Shehata on March 11, 2009. Mr Essam promised I will see it this week-end, I have not lost my faith yet. However in his last email
he mentioned the following which I am showing below
Dear All our Customers
we apologies that we are going to hold our business for three months between 1 May 2009 until 1 August 2009 , this is only temporarily in this period
and we will be getting back again in August with more products / designs , etc... all who have ordered before the 1st of May will be proceed and we
are going to reply all the customers emails during this period.

I got the same message about my order concerning the rishas ( another thread in this forum )......I would have receive its since 10 or 15 days. So I
don't really understand what is the meaning of their answer: do we have to wait for a time they choose? Will they honor the orders posted before they
stop their activity for a few monthes?
This is really not clear for me, if someone could give me some informations.......

having lived there in my younger years, busines is conducted on faith and trust, time does not seem to be important. I guess you will see your risha
like Mr Issam concludes his email with " ISA" meaning in arabic " In Sha Allah " which stands for " God willing "
I cannot figure out why business is shut down perhaps the summer weather ? or a re-organization ? but I suspect that there is a business issue between
the Nilecart and the manufacturer Mr Shehata.
I still have faith I will get my OUD, I am just getting impatient. Hope you get your risha.

I have personally dealt with Esam via internet to purchase two ouds and a gawharet el fan tabla. One oud from gawharet el fan and another from
Maurice. I found Essam to be a man of his word and a person who puts his best effort for customer service. I hope that I'm not to late with this
info. I certainly plan on doing more business with him again.
