Arabic Aquila high f'
Greetings oud brethren...
Would anyone happen to know the gauge of the aquila high f' that Jameel sells? It's a very thin string - looks like it could be a 0.40 or even
less...

Hi Melbourne
The Aquila nylgut high f' is approx .017 inches or 0.44mm . The Mari rectified nylon by comprison is approx .019 inches 0.49mm. The nylgut tend to be
thinner anywaybut generally brighter. I'm not sure of tensions as dependson scale length.

the nylgut is like gut, 0,40 should have the same tension of 0,44 on nylon and 0,34 on nylon-carbon.
for me is very thin also on 62 cm string length
