I am interested in purchasing a oud and was wondering what is the best type of oud for a beginner, ex. type of wood and things i should look for, also
has anyone heard of mr. ibrahim bramili, the oud maker in tripoli (trablos) and byblos (jbeil) Lebanon.
thanks

Hi. Welcome to the Forum.
Use the search feature and read the many posts on starter ouds.
How could anyone tell you anything about a hypothetical oak instrument?

Rosewood in Arabic is known as khacab el ward (egypt) and Sissam (Iraq)
perhaps there are other names but if you tell a oud maker you want khachab el ward they probably will know what you mean.
Dont know anything about oak... maybe its a good wood for oud but I can tell you I have never seen a oud made out of it. so its obviously not a
popular choice... probably because its not the most beautiful wood out there.
