Shortening Peg Length
I plan to buy a professional oud down the road, but for now I have a student model oud and decided to do some upgrades.
I build classic cars and am a tattoo artist so meticulous detailed work is part of my daily life.
I replaced the pegs that came on my oud with ebony viola pegs which look much better.
After patience with a reamer and peg shaper/shaver the pegs hold tunning better as well.
I also replaced a peeled up brittle pickgaurd.
I've had luck with function; now moving on to aesthetics...
...Peg Length.
I've seen a lot of pics of peg boxes that have the end of the peg stop flush with the pegbox. My pegs are long, extending past the box. Has anyone cut
ebony viola pegs down so the end of the peg is fush with the pegbox?

Good stuff Zulu.
A little sandpaper on the ends to round them out.

Then rubbing the edges on a piece of leather would give them a shiny finish ....
Good luck
