maqam book about 200 pieces update
Hi.
I have put together a collection of many pieces in different maqamat by various composers.
I can arrange to get copies made if anyone is interested.
The book contains many Turkish pieces transposed to Arabic/western keys (Rast=C), as well as pieces by Arabic and other nationalities. There are also
some original compositions based on traditional forms like Samai, Longa etc.

Hi Jono Oud- sounds like a real labor of love! I'm definitely interested. Would it be possible to post a copy here of the table of contents/song
listing, and perhaps one example of how the songs/maqams are notated? thanks, Matthew

Humbly would love to have.
Electronic format would be great. How about an e-book, say .mobi format for openers? I would love to have it on my Kindle and iPad.
If you want/need to charge for it, and see a market, Amazon will let you keep 70% of gross revenue from many countries, less nominal download costs,
if you price it between $2.99 and $9.99, and they handle all the hosting and downloads. A Kindle owner can click Buy on Amazon's web site and it
downloads to their Kindle.
But .mobi is also a good format for no charge distribution.

Hi.
Wow!
I am happy to have so many people interested!
I can get some printed.
The scores are in Arabic 'keys'.
The micro tones are written the standard Arabic way, with the slash through the flats and half-sharp symbol.
Sorry it is not available as an E book.
I will just charge for printing and postage and maybe a few dollars extra, but not much.
I will upload the contents pages.
It is not a commercial book, i have just put it together myself.
It is organised by maqam, it starts with Bb maqamat, then G maqamat, D, C, etc..
Let me know and I will organise printing.

I have inquired about printing costs at a good print shop this morning.
The books will cost around NZ $35 if people are interested.
The only other charge will be the postage.
The book has been very helpful for me, I have used it on many gigs with my friends who play the riqq and darabukka.

Book distribution
Hi again.
Brian Prunka has kindly offered to help me distribute my book.
I am getting one printed to post to him, and then they will be available through him in the future.

Jono Oud is sending me a copy, and I'll get some printed. I'll have them on the site for printing costs + shipping. I should be able to do it for
about the same cost as what Jono Oud said, I think NZ$35 is about $30US.
Since I already have Paypal and shipping set up (and I'm always shipping stuff anyway), I figured I could make it easier.

Hi.
Yes.
Unfortunately I don't have the contents pages on my computer anymore, I completed it a couple of years ago and don't have a scanner.
The book contains many famous pieces as well as lesser known ones.
There are famous pieces by Mohammed Abdel Wahab, Munir and Omar Bashir, Sami Al Shawwa, Tatyos Efendi, Jamil Bey, Dede Efendi and many others. There
are also many Iraqi short pieces and some Persian pieces as well as about eight or so original compositions in traditional forms (Bashraf, Samai
etc).
There is quite a range of maqamat, from Rast and Bayati to lesser know ones.

Hi.
Just letting people know that the book should arrive in the US any day now. It sometimes takes a while for it to get from NZ to the US, shouldn't be
long now though.
