need help...blind test, from who this semai?

Hello,

I'm trying to find back the composer of this piece, to learn it.
Here is a short playing of the teslim, by memory...I didn't really work on it yet, so excuse the playing.

Thanks for your help

I think the jury is still out in regard to who composed this wonderful piece.

I have attached a version of the sheet music that suggests it was composed by Tanburi Cemil Bey. I guess we will never be absolutely sure.

This is my favourite Sama'i.

The Ziryab Trio did a wonderful version on their album 'Mashreq Classics' with a fabulous taqsim by oud master Taiseer Elias.

Regards,

Greg

Thank you guys.
I was pretty sure this piece was from this master but I'm too bad in identifying makams.
regards

Sorry mrkmni, I didn't really look at the name you used. If I had, I would have realised we were talking about the same composer. And of course, this is not the piece I had in mind when I said the jury was still out. I was thinking of Lungha Nahawand (Nihavend Longa). There are many different pieces with this name, but the one composed by Kawthar Hanim is sometimes attributed to Jamil Bey (on maqamword, for instance).

So that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :D

Regards,

Greg
