Oud pegbox riven
Hello Maestros.
I just pick my oud out from postal service in Peru (South America).
Was an emotive moment for me because 3 weeks of waiting, finally over.
Well, when I back home, took the oud out from the box and the case, and I immediately must to take the strings off due the pressure they were making
on the pegbox.
The oud prices is 350$ (Amazon) know is a small price or sometimes affordable for a beginner oud.
Well I share with you (as I did with the oud-maker, who, btw, said he'll pay everthing that need be fixed) some pics about the problem.
You consider the riven is by weather (hot/humidity), hit, bad glued work?
Do you considerer the pegbox needs to be fully restored (new piece) or just glued?

This was caused by damage while transit, almost certainly. The pegbox has been hit or put under pressure.
I've been through the same thing, as have many others—it's a pretty common problem when an oud is shipped and not properly packed to protect the
instrument.
You probably don't need a whole new pegbox. But the pegbox needs to be removed. The small block that attaches the pegbox to the neck needs to be
replaced and the sides probably need to be reinforced where they cracked, then the whole thing reattached.
Some of the luthiers here may be able to give you more details info.

Thank you Brian Prunka for your appreciation and quickly response.
I hope other members (as you) with your knowledge about this issues can share their experiences.
Once again, thank you very much.
I'll tell it to my luthier-friend.
Regards.
