Pictures needed
I am still in the process (never-ending, I guess) of updating my website on Armenian oud-makers. There are holes in the listing, of course, and I am
in desperate need of pictures of some instruments for some of the luthiers. Particularly, I am sure that some of you out there must have a Merjanian
(Merjan), or a Keresteciyan--I have pictures for neither. And, I know a lot of you have Karibyans. I have photos of 5 of them up there, but I really
want to expand it so that you can see not just how the instrument in general evolved over the years, but how the work of each luthier evolved. So, in
the end, if I have pictures of 30 or 40 Karibyans there, it would be great.
And, I know a lot of folks don't like for everybody to know what they have. So, I would be happy to list them anonymously. if preferred.
I only mentioned 3 names here, but, really, if any of you have pictures of an oud by an Armenian, I would love to post them. Pretty much if the name
ends in ian or yan, that's an Armenian. Not always, but usually.
Nazih posted pics of an oud by a Mahran a while back--I have to check to see if that was actually a Keresteciyan. There was actually a violin by
Keresteciyan on ebay last week--never saw one before.
Thanks a lot!
