Unorthodox Oud Repair Part II
Hi, I just reported how I repaired a broken peg box.
When the peg box was in place, I could finally string the Oud (I will post another contribution on that) and play it - and - there was this little but
very effective hole in the wood inlay at the joint of the neck with the body, just under the highest cc strings, giving all but a decent tone on this
spot (which is, as far as I remember a fifth, and so it's an important tone). There was just a buzzzzzzzzz....
I try to figer out how to repair it without much hassle and here is the result:
I made clean borders arounf the missing piece of inlay with a clear scotch tape on the finger boeard and from the side of the neck (see attached
picture).
Then I filled the hole with Titebond Professional glue, let it dry and built up another layer of glue.
Finally you have o polish it even with the finger board and the hole is gone... it works.
Maybe its helpful for somebody, that's why I share it with you...
