Influence of construction detailes on Sound??

Hi everybody,
this are my questions to all the experienced oud players who have hold many instruments in their hands:

1. What is the difference in sound and playing feeling between a classical bridge and a 'free floating' guitar type bridge?

2. What is the difference between a one hole and a three hole soundboard?

3. What is the difference between circular and ovale holes? Only aesthetical one or also in sound?

4. What would be the tuning for a 7 courses oud as built e.g. by Fadi Matta?

I will appreciate ver much helpful answers!

with best regards and wishes

Hi rojaros

a common tuning from low to high pitch is CFADgcf. Alternatively, AEADgcf, or ADADgcf are used too. I often alternate depending on what it is played.eg, when playing Rast do, Nahwand do, Nahawand Fa, 3ajam Fa or Do, bayat sol, rast sol, nahawand sol I would go for the CFADgcf. If playing any makam on LA or Re I would go for the other 2 tunings. But theorically the tuning should be BEADgcf in which all strings are separated by 4 tones.
hope this is helpfull
Best

Isn't there anybody who could compare?

Thanks you all for the time you give to write something

Hi rojaros: there have been threads on this subject in the past, here is one:
http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=2509#pid154...
from what I understand, one sound hole instead of three tends to add a little more bass response to the projected sound.
I tune my 7 course, from low to high, c ,ff,aa,dd,gg,cc,ff. this gives me the lower Arabic c-to cc tuning, as well as the low ff to high ff tuning. Another tuning would be c,ee,aa,dd,gg,cc,ff.
I'm sure you could tune 7 courses in various ways, all things being equal- :)
regards, MW
